Tips For Snorkeling In Cozumel

  • Choose the right location: Cozumel offers numerous snorkeling spots, so it’s important to choose the right one based on your skill level and preferences.
  • Bring your own gear: While there are plenty of places to rent snorkeling gear in Cozumel if you have your own equipment, it’s always best to bring it along. This way, you can ensure a proper fit and have gear that you’re comfortable with.

If you’re going to be snorkeling a few times on your trip, buying your own equipment may be cheaper than renting. I like this set. It’s not too expensive but really good quality.
  • Use a rash guard: Even with sunscreen, your skin can quickly burn. Wear a rash guard to protect yourself from the sun.
  • Water shoes will protect your feet from rocky beaches. They’re also great for slippery boat docks.
  • Apply sunscreen: Make sure to choose reef-safe sunscreen to minimize any potential damage to the coral reefs in case you end up back in the water.
  • Respect the marine life: Cozumel is home to a diverse range of marine life, including colorful fish, turtles, and coral reefs. It’s important to respect their habitat and avoid touching or disturbing them.
  • Stay hydrated: Snorkeling can be physically demanding, so it’s important to stay hydrated. Bring along a refillable water bottle and drink plenty of fluids before, during, and after your snorkeling adventure.
